Sunday, December 28th, 2008

I believe that I can set up an email account thru Yahoo using a unique domain name for around $20/yr. I am starting my own business so I need an account using something like mike@mysmallbusiness.com instead of a Yahoo or hotmail account. I need help exploring what my options are besides Yahoo to get this started.

fyi…I do web hosting, domain registration and have a website builder with a 10 day free trial.

Below a few ideas that you can do more research into and see what might work best for you.

1. Search Engine Optimization of Web Pages

2. Social Media Marketing (myspace, facebook, etc)

3. Social Bookmarking Marketing (digg, reddit, etc)

4. Article Submission

5. PPC\CPM Advertising (This is hard to get a ROI)

6. Link Exchanges (Exchange links with sites directly related to yours, it can help provide some decent traffic since those visitors can actually find a use to your site.)

Again, this is just a quick list of things for you research on, there are thousands of different methods in increase traffic to your website.

I want to use my unique domain name I bought to create unique email addresses at my bellsouth.net DSL account.

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

I suspect you mean you bought a domain name such as mydomainname.com, and now you want to have e-mail addresses such as me@mydomainname.com.

To do that, you need to have someone sell you that service. I am sure bellsouth would be happy to sell you that service.

I don't know who you bought the domain name from, but most offer this service at an additional charge. If you bought your domain from godaddy.com, they give you e-mail service for your domain name for free.

Can someone experienced in parking domains help?

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

The problem: Low traffic to parked names. ** Is there a company out there that will send traffic to parked domains without violating T.O.S ** All the ones I see are from pop-ups, pop-unders, banners, links or redirected. I was just about to purchase some expired domain traffic but remembered reading that traffic cannot be redirected and all this traffic is easily detected by using the same referrer since they all direct it through there servers.***** Not trying to cheat the system, Not wanting clicks just unique ip's and referrers from North America.** Have money to invest in my own servers or what ever it takes. Would love to contact the person that can help.

Interesting question.

Every webmaster wants more hits to his website, whether it's a free webpage, blog or even parked domain name.

Your best (and legal) bet would be to pay a SEO firm to analyze your parked-domains. With some simple modifications, such as keyword targetting and external links, you can probably drastically increase traffic to your parked domains.

A SEO solution would be more practical because it would be long-term. A pay-for-clicks solution, such as purchasing Adsense, would only last as long as you paid for the traffic.

How many unique domain names are there?

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Iread recently there were over 1 trillion unique URLs. I want to know how many unique DOMAIN NAMES there are .

www.DOMAIN.com

not just com - but all TLDs.

Anyone know?

Regards

Stuart
OK, I know the number of POSSIBLE domain names.

26 alpha
10 numeric
allowable non-alpha/non-numeric
starting 2 characters up to max chars

It's the number of ACTUAL domains out there. Registered. Not even bothered if there is anything on there.

www.DOMAIN.TLD

If anyone needs any clarification, shout up !

Just calculate i will give clue

Of 26 alphabets the number of two leter words are 26Pc = 26!/(26-2)!… for 3 letter = 26!/(26-3)!………..so on and then multiply it by number of.etension available

will a unique domain for email be better than yahoo mail?

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Hi, I had a free yahoo email account and over time it's started only getting through to a fraction of recipiants. I'm guessing this is because other email providers are blocking my email address or .yahoo.com as a whole due to the large amount of spam that comes from yahoo email accounts. I have a domain registered with yahoo and have added an email address to it i.e. bob@bobsader.com (not actually it). Should this sort my problems or is the yahoo interface itself failing to sent emails properly?
just to clarify. I had been RECEIVING emails just fine, but lots of my friends had been going into their spam boxes (in hotmail, gmail, etc etc) in order to find mine. Does yahoo have a problem sending emails or are my emails being sent and then caught by people's spam filters?

hi, i think its actually yahoo. many people use bellsouth for their own domain email but i'm not sure if its as good as yahoo or not..but it probably doesnt block as many emails

How do I start my own website with a unique domain name?

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

I have an idea for a website, and I have some experience with html, and learning any more design techniques I can do on my own. I've only had websites with angelfire.com, but now I want to have my own domain name and advertising that I'm getting paid for hosting. How do I create my own domain name with some web space to work with, and after that, how do I offer my page as advertising grounds?

Well, I can help you get started with the unique domain name part. First go to a domain name registration site. Be careful though, many are shady and unstable. I developed a web site for the company I work for, and found out the hard way that domain name carriers can be crooks. Here is the site I've found to be reliable and we now use: http://www.domaindirect.com/

If you go to this web site, one of the first things you see is SEARCH in red, just plug in what you want for a domain name and it'll search it to see if it's already taken. That's the easy part.

Once you've figured out what you want for a domain name, then register it. This will cost a little money, but domaindirect has a few options, one of which you might find affordable. In order to use a domain name, it must be registered, this is unavoidable. If you try to go with some other domain registration site that advertises really cheap domain names, they might nickel and dime you every time you turn around, and they'll be real annoying about it, and they may not have reliable servers, and your site many suffer down time because of that……..unless of course you choose to host your own domain, and that's a bit more tricky……but, regardless, you still must register your domain name…….If you choose to host your own site (that means the actual site is on your computer which is connected to the net at all times, and you'll need a real good firewall, and have the knowledge of how to keep hackers out of your computer and off your site) then you'll have to learn how to do all of that yourself or from someone else because I don't know about that. However, domaindirect has web hosting packages you may purchase along with your domain name registration. I found them to be very affordable. Usually, especially for a beginner domain, you'll only need one of the cheaper smaller packages, so don't waste your money on something fancy. Of course, you'll have to have some sort of idea of how many megabytes you'll need for your web site if you have it hosted through domaindirect or any other domain name server/host.

Well, that ought to get you started on it……I don't know about the offering your page for advertising grounds. Maybe someone else can help you with that part.

Good luck! :o)
